Organic Andiroba oil - widely used by:
i) Professional athletes as a muscle rub and to treat sports injuries
ii) Folks suffering from arthritis and rheumatism
iii) Salons as a hot oil treatment for their clients with thick naturally curly hair.
Andiroba is purported to increase blood circulation in the scalp, which in turn promotes healthy hair growth.
Taken from the name Nheengatu nhandi rob, meaning "bitter oil". The Andiroba tree is part of the Mahogany family found in tropical Brazil, Guyana and Colombia. Each Andiroba tree produces small semi-circular seeds that have similar *properties* to that of Neem oil but *without* the characteristic un-friendly scent.
Extraction:
To extract the oil from the seeds they first have to be boiled & left to ferment for approximately 25 days. The pulp is separated and shaped into a round spherical object then placed on a sloping surface in the sun (or shade) for a few weeks to allow the oil to naturally seep out.
Natural source of essential fatty acids such as:
• Linoleic
A polyunsaturated essential fatty acid required for the development of healthy skin and cell membranes, reducing puffiness and swelling. Its EFA (vitamin F) content helps to hydrate dry, parched skin.
• Palmitoleic
An unsaturated fatty acid that contains high amounts of glycerides (a natural conditioner that imparts incredible softness to skin & hair).
• Myristic acid
Referred to as tetradecanoic acid, links together the proteins that form the skin's protective outer layer. It also regulates the skin cell regeneration, which prevents over active scaling.
As well as limonoids, a phytochemical, which are:
"Currently (limonoids) are under investigation for a wide variety of therapeutic effects such as antiviral, antifungal, antibacterial, antineoplastic and antimalarial."

Applications:
Simply apply a small amount to the tip of your finger and smooth onto the area in most need of moisture. May be applied directly to the face, neck or scalp.
On your skin:
Andiroba oil accelerates the healing of unsightly skin damage by providing an abundant amount of natural Myristic acid. Linoleic acid & Palmitoleic acid.
Andiroba - Linolenic acid content balances:
i) The uncontrolled growth of skin cells
ii) The uncontrolled growth of the pigment producing cells
Andiroba oil is great for the treatment of everything from insect bites, cuts, scrapes, abrasions, psoriasis, eczema, seborrheic dermatitis and age spots. Andiroba also helps to treat the symptoms of Keratosis Pilaris.
On your hair:
It imparts a natural, non greasy, conditioning effect on both wavy, curly, and Afro hair types due to it's Palmitoleic fatty acid. Andiroba oil contains even more Palmitoleic acid than Macadamia nut oil, making it one of the most sought after oils in the world.
For sore, achy, tired muscles:
When you use Andiroba as a heat treatment the benefits are instantly noticeable.
To heat - take one bottle of Andiroba oil and place it in warm to hot water, let it stand for 5 minutes. Pump out as much as required and distribute to the affected area(s).
How it works:
"The oil of the andiroba contains high quantities of the beneficial omega-3 fatty acids. When the oil is applied onto the skin, all of these essential fatty acids become quickly and completely absorbed, passing into the skin and they are circulated rapidly towards the region of the body with a fracture in the bone.
Once present in the affected region, these essential fatty acids help in eliminating the production of various natural chemicals which can cause inflammation and restrict the normal circulation in the area. The swelling is slowly reduced by the increase in circulation of blood promoted by the applied oil-at the same time, the presence of the oil also decreases the body’s production of all inflammatory chemicals and this results in a reduction in the pain felt by the affected individual."
